THEORY & HISTORY COURSE SCHEDULE

Our program method is designed to make music theory and history approachable and exciting. Students are helped to understand concepts, and

to succeed. Our curriculum covers the prerequisites for Royal Conservatory of Music examinations, and students have all had very high rate of

success.

MUSIC THEORY


Basic, Intermediate & Advanced Theory Rudiments are available from September through May in a group

class setting. Each lesson is generally between 60 and 120 minutes in length, and students will learn all the

necessary requirements for RCM examinations. The NSM curriculum follows the Royal Conservatory of Music

most recent syllabus. Students will receive quizzes and tests periodically in class, and are expected to prepare

and complete weekly homework assignments.

MUSIC HISTORY


History I & II courses are available from September through May in a group class setting. Each class is

generally 2 to 3 hours in length and covers the basic prerequisites for Royal Conservatory of Music examination

sessions. All enrolled students receive weekly homework assignments and periodic tests to help prepare for

Royal Conservatory History examinations.

This introductory 12-week class helps music students train and improve their ear skills, pitch, and to

sing and identify music intervals. This class is particularly excellent as preparation for Royal

Conservatory of Music examinations.

An applied music class designed to prepare advanced level music students and amateur musicians to

teach future music students. Different teaching techniques are learned, discussed and applied in

class. Pedagogy coursework is combined with practical experience. Students enrolled in this class will

have the chance to teach other students of varied ages and music experience. 

 

*A Registration Fee of $20 will be applied to new students at Neapolitan School of Music. Textbook and material fee extra.
